If you're going on vacation and in need of an early refill, the pharmacy can call the insurance company for a vacation override. With this override, you'll pay the normal co-payment. If your insurance plan doesn't offer overrides, you may pay cash for non-control medications.
This is a suggestion I can appreciate. Traveling with elderly parents and trying to keep up w/something important as meds can be difficult. I will keep this in mind while planning our next summer vacation.

ReplyDeleteI Don't know how I missed this blog - this is most helpful. My husband is battling cancer so we have to travel to Houston every 12 weeks to go to MD Anderson and we are there for a few days so I'm always trying to plan our trips around appointments, work and I have to make sure he has all the meds he needs before we go. Although we cannot call it a vacation, it is a trip away from home so I need to keep this tidbit in mind. Thanks for the helpful tip!
ReplyDeleteHello Sherry, if I remember correctly you are a Walgreens customer. There are Walgreens Drug Stores through out the United States, which makes it easier to get refills and new prescriptions filled. A Walgreens in Georgia will see the same information as a Walgreens in Louisiana. There is no need for a vacation over ride if you are traveling to a state where there is a Walgreens. I hope this helps!
